February 3 On Tuesday I went to see Edith and Len. Edith was very happy. She seemed to have shaken her depression. · Today I went and she was still in fantastic form. The matron said that Edith had accepted the nursing home as her home. I asked Edith about the change of heart. She said she has decided that she has to love this place because this is where “Pop” needs to be, and she needs to be with him. I said I thought that was very good. She looked out the window and said, yes. Then she said, “I don’t want to go back to thinking again. Isn’t that a lovely tree?”
